Poem For Life
By Luke Kenneth Casson Leighton
my trust. my love. my life.
sudden death, a way with words that parts from my lips
in sounds of silence that form endless mannerisms parttaken from the divine
i peaked at the ecstacy of ever-breathless encounters with the
never-ending yearning satisfied at last.
she came to me, and gave me life, and i sighed with joy beyond all reason,
for the one before me was myself, beholden to none and none other than
she who is without name, my guiding serenity, divinity and saviour.
i loved her before i even knew my name.
passion without form took me to places i'd never reached, for her warbling
call i would go anywhere, trust her without a moment's hesitation -
my life, my endless life in her hands forever.
so soon, it is time, they say - that day never ends for me, when i am
with her. and i am here, her life in my hands forever.
the joy of the sea, the sounds, the crashing waves.
the beauty that's free and abounds, in endless days.
the source of all life, in you, a pattern enshrines
the key to all strife - it ends - with a love that entwines
our hearts
and minds
to visions
and lines
that put us where we belong, in the light of your life - our life -
our hopes and dreams fulfilled forever.
